just a little rusted out by bloodyrael just a little rusted out by bloodyrael
background: handdyed calico, silk & gauze using Indigo + Rust&Tannic Acid
foreground- mixed jumble of dyed fabrics scraps, 1 failed knitting project and trapped cotton threads constructed with the aid of a solvy bag (lovely stuff!)
a blend of uniform shapes keping in place the wild and fuzzy looking creation in the centre...
heh

* I lost my iron...so there's some unwanted creases on the piece :p

A big THANKYOU to everyone who has been adding this piece to their favourites, much appreciated! ...I have soooo lost track of who I have thanked personally already-I am not ungrateful for the interest! :p

thankyou for stopping by :D Maybe stay a while and see if theres anything else in my gallery that'd make you smile :D

just a little rusted out by *bloodyrael The contrasting textures and subtlety of colour choice are just beautiful. Framed I could see this making a wonderful addition to any wall. It's a fantastic piece of textile art. ( Suggested by linzi and Featured by ohnojaylo )

How did you create the knotted thread look of you get me :/ ??

sorry for the late reply, I havent been on deviantart for awhile :/
the knotted look in this piece was just a particular kind of wool I bought that had a knotted/lumpy look. I knitted a squareish piece and had just sewn it into place by hand at first then with the sewing machine so it creates more chunky/textured areas. :)

hee ^_^

actually i'm in the middle of a textiles project; i was thinking of combining your style with natasha wescoat's so yes, if possible, i'd like to use your works as reference but the question is YOU. how do i put the artist name in the section? the examiner would think i was just nicking ppl's work and invented a name like 'bloodyrael', which isn't exactly a real name is it? i hope you're not taking that as an offence but if you prefer to keep your name to yourself, then that's fine, i'll just explain to my teacher :p

what you do is provide a direct link back to the artwork on deviantart or my profile or my website etc.

an inspiration for my project atlast!! thanks bloodyrael *bow* do you mind if i put the artist name as it is? it is awkward if you have something like 'bloodyrael' at the bottom of a piece of artwork :P

apart from just to hit the submit button once? heh :p
well, as the bulk of the materials used in this piece were hand-dyed (I went to an arty tech college and learnt to use dyes there, and made use of their equipment as I dont have the space or safety gear at home for the more dangerous chemicals that are used). Perhaps join a class or a workshop in your area if such a thing is available. Otherwise a good thing to do is hunt for materials at thrift stores or see what's available in a local craft store, and see what's happening locally! :)

yes! this is the kind of textile art I am in love with! a mix of dark grungy colors, made beautiful by composition and thought, I really love this mix of order and chaos!

if I was making it from scratch complete with all the dyeing of the fabrics it would have, I have a lot of hand-dyed materials on hand leftover from the last Textiles class I did from about two years ago, and brought them out for use only recently. The sewing part is all new though :D But I'm quick when I dont think too much about it :D
